A Good Evening Hunt with the Discovery 3300

This detector is not so great in wet grass, but in dry grass and tot lots, it is a killer...
Here is my take from a park I previously hunted with the LandStar
Most targets were 5-6" deep in the grass around the lot...Mostly pennies in the wood bark...Hunted for about 1 1/2 hours with 4" coil only
Oldest coin...1969D copper cent
Jeans rivet shown just as smallest target recovered...I am sure if there was gold there, I would have found it...Lotsa nickels recovered...
44 total coins =...2Q, 5D, 8N, 13C, 16Z for $1.69

HH,

Dont you just hate those rivets in the wood chips.Even with my propointer I would rather deal with pulltabs

Nice that your pulling nickles. Nice hunt...

Hey GoGo,
Have you tried to seal up the coil? Silicone around the cable where it goes in or bed liner or similar?

Jeff

No...Have not tried that...I am not sure if I want to do this with the 10" coil or not...I have all 3 coils for the machine 4", 8", and 10"...
4" and 8" usually do not give me too much trouble, but the 10" is hard to ground balance, and falses a LOT, no matter where I try to use it...10" is only about 1 month old...

HH,

Ouch. Do your coils have coil covers? Trapped dirt can cause falsing and make cleaning out the coil covers manditory. You may already know this though.

Just trying to help.

Jeff

I do not use covers just for that reason...Most places I hunt do not have rough ground, so I have not had a need for covers.
