A good day with the Vaquero

This spring I was aproached by a gentleman who proceeded to tell me about a wedding ring he lost at a soccer field. He described the ring thoroughly and gave me his card. I told him I wasn't going to make a special trip but if I was in the area I would give a search. I finally made the trip and am I glad I did. Besides a couple bucks in clad and cheap jewelry I found his ring, another 10k ring and an 1848 large cent. The large cent looks like it has been there a long time but was only an inch below the surface on the side of a hill.

He may think he owes me, but I think its the other way around.

I will be returning to that field again.

What a great story and those finds to boot. Thanks for sharing and let us know how the ring return goes.

Congrats !!!!!!!! I love it when we get approached and people tell you all kinds of stories with excellent leads!!!!!!!!

Hi Everybody

I returned the gentlemans wedding ring and declined the offer for payment. In addition to the other finds I posted, the next day I found a 14k heavy neclace completly intact with clasp closed. In all I nearly paid for my Vaquero just helping someone out. I was also granted permission from the administrators of the complex to continue searching the field. Now I don't have to lie and tell them I'm still looking for my friends wedding ring....grin

Great story! Thanks for sharing! +1 for the hobby thanks to you taking the time to help someone out!
