At long last the farmers are finished harvesting, everybody's back in school, and I get my Mondays for metal detecting back. Got out with a new detecting friend Joel for a day of field hunting at old country school sites. The day started with Tims coffee and bright stars with the best fall weather we've seen in a while. The first and second site were a disappointment due to various reasons but the third site paid off with some coins and interesting relics.Joel found a beautiful square nail which for some reason I just love collecting. Possibly because as a young lad I used to warm up by the Black Smith's forge at one of my paper route customers. I loved watching him work on horse shoes and fixing wagon wheels.Sometimes the relics you find are more interesting than the coins as you can see in the attached picture. Thanks for looking.
