A good day at the park

Got out to the local park this afternoon for about 3 hours worth of hunting. Theres one spot where dances used to be held, and it was bring and drink all the beer you can hold....not that I ever did that mind you:rolleyes: Anyhow it's one constant null in this area there is some much junk. Before I headed to the park I took the etrac with the EQ2 6" coil out to the test garden to see what was the minium sensitivity that I would pick up a 5" deep dime at. That was 16 in manual, and -1 in auto, which in the test garden was 19 auto. So off to the trash I headed. Ran for a while in manual at 17 which was what the suggested bar was running, but wasn't having any luck, so I switched to auto -1, still no luck so then I went to auto -3 and things began to show up. Most of the time with auto -3 the etrac was running at around 15 sensitivity. Ended up with 5 wheaties, a 34d, 2-41, a 41d, and a 48d...5 silver dimes, 1912d, 39d, 41d, 42, and a 54d. The war nickle is a 1945d and came in at fe13co15...it was around 5" deep, and read a post the other day where someone was finding buffalos coming in at co15 so I dug it. Turning the sensitivity down and going slow with the EQ2 made for a really fun day! Thanks for looking and HH, ken-ks

nice job

That was a great day,Congrats on the finds.

Excellent post Ken!!! This is the first time I've heard a clear cut use of auto in conjuction with the minus 1,2 or 3. I very much appreciate you telling us how it worked for you!! Also appreciated the pictures, Keep'm'comin'

good job, but are u saying when in auto +1,2,3 you could not get these coins? but when you went to -1,2,3 u found them? I am confused now!

Yea goes I'm saying that, like Ray said in the post right before yours, depth isn't everything. With any sensitivity at all this was just about one complete null. Turning down the auto to -3 let me get in between some of the trash. I'm thinking you could have the deepest most powerful detector in the world, but if it's putting out such a strong wide signal, in trash you're not going to get past the first layer of trash. I haven't tried it, but turning down the sensitivity along sidewalks with re bar or wire in them, and swinging parallel with the side walk should give a guy a new place to hunt in pounded sites, just cause with much sensetivity you'll pick up the metal in the sidewalk long before you'll pick up anything beside it. ken-ks
