A good afternoon

Here in Iowa we only have a few short weeks left to hunt. I used to hunt in the snow but I am too old for that! I hit a ball diamond for a while and only come up with some clad. Drove a few miles and hit and old school. I was getting a few clad coins when I had a barely repeatable high tone that was bouncing from 28-34. It was about like a rusty nail sound but one that needed investigated. I dug down at least 10". The hole was deeper than my Whites TRX. Pulled out another scoop of dirt and I caught a glint of silver. I got a no date standing liberty quarter! The first in over thirty years! I went on to dig a well worn 1918 mercury dime and a couple of wheats and a green Indian. Not a bad day for a pounded out area. I was running my 600 in Park 1,sensitivity 23 and F2. Rain and cold is coming and I have fields to hit after they are harvested! Good luck and HH! Ted:detecting:

Thanks Jeff! I will try to post pics tomorrow. The silver is worn but any day I find silver is a good day!

That’s a great hunt by any measure Ted! It’s almost silly how deep these Minelab technologies can detect AND ID A COIN WELL ENOUGH TO DIG. Are they 100% correct all the time? Obviously not. But when the signal does certain things....time to check it out. What a thrill that must have been, it’s great to see you got out and scooped a few oldies!

Nice hunt to remember for a few months of winter

Todd...A few months of winter usually equals about 6 months! It is 35* right now with a few flurries to the east of me...
