Im no authority but yes you can crush it and pan out the gold or have it done but on small scale crushing i thinkis the the common process; However if you find a rock (quarts) with gold in it and it is what they call a specimen rock ; pretty and more valuable just as it is ; YOU DONT CRUSH those 
I dont think guess ; However ; when you get through doing the I found Gold Dance you will be able to check on here and other web sites to see the best process for your particular problem; not that it s a problem finding gold.
