Earlier this afternoon, while visiting with a friend of mine on the computer, he asked me if I watched the cowboy movies on the AMC channel on cable TV. I told him that I had never heard of the AMC channel and that I did not watch TV very often. I felt that he was getting frustrated with me because I could not really tell him if we had cable or dish TV, much less even what channels were available on our TV. I told him that when Debbie arrived home that I would ask her and let him know if we had the AMC channel on our TV. When Debbie provided me with the information, I sent him the e-mail posted below.
Knowing that some of you folks are interested in the life style of some of our fellow members on this Forum, I decided to post it for you to read. I guess that in this modern electronic age that it is difficult for some folks to grasp the fact that some of us are indeed from the old school and do not watch TV very often. I hope that you enjoy the small glimpse into my early years of life.
"First of all, forget the little TV dish on the roof of my house, it is not connected. Debbie said that I was correct in that we do not have cable or dish TV, our TV comes through our telephone line. Next, we have over 400 channels and AMC is one of them. We checked and yes, there are some old cowboy movies shown on Saturdays. The number of the channel down here is #795 for AMC. I am being honest with you, I seldom watch TV, so seldom that I do not even know how to work the remote which must have over 100 buttons on it. Most of the rare times that I watch TV is if I walk by the TV in the kitchen and spot something that Debbie is watching that is interesting to me, then I may sit down and watch part of it. I was not trying to act dumb, and I was not trying to wind you up, I really do not watch TV as per se, and I really did not know the answers to your questions. I guess folks have a hard time grasping that some people do not watch TV. Growing up on a farm, the only time us children watched TV was on Saturday mornings and we did watch cowboy movies. We only got to watch TV if we had done all our chores and was not in trouble for doing something wrong during the week. Unfortunately for me, I was usually in some type of trouble for mischief during the week and one of the punishments was no Saturday morning TV. I remember us getting our first color TV when I was in the 11th grade of high school. It was a Sears & Roebuck brand TV. That TV never worked correctly and my parents replaced it with a TV bought at my Uncle John
