A Georgia Mystery

I went down to Ga on Thursday with the hopes of being able to do some detecting and just maybe help my son get his first Turkey Gobbler.

To say that it rained would be a very large understatement. I did get to do a little detecting. Found this item in a Farmers Field near an old well. I think there may have been a structure of some type there in years past. Most of what I found was bits and pieces of various metal items. I did find this one interesting item. It appears that it may be made of brass.

It is 3 inches long and 2 1/8 inches wide. Any Ideas?

Thanks Guys. I should have remembered seeing one of those when I was growing up. My Grandfather always kept a team of horses for farming in our area as the land where we lived was mostly too steep for a tractor. My excuse for not remembering, aside from old age, is that Grandad always was the one who put the harness on the horses.
