A friendly discussion turns from weather to detecting

Pete in MI

New member
Yesterday a lady was visiting our facility and she is from Texas. She said though she rented a car she took a taxi to get to where I worked because she knows nothing about driving in snow. I mentioned that by Friday the snow may be gone as it is supposed to get up around 45 degrees. I said "when the snow is gone, I'm getting out my metal detector and see what I can find".

Seems she has recently bought a metal detector for her husband and he hasn't gone out with it yet. She wanted to know what things I've found, where to look, we talked about public libraries and books to read there, looking into detecting clubs in her area of Texas, the forums here on Findmall, this forum and how we pray for each other as well as share our finds, our local detecting club that I belong to and much more (all while waiting for her taxi to arrive). I gave her a business type card with my name, phone number and email addy on it and told her to write when she gets back home. She was so tickled and excited. Bet her and her husband will be out detecting soon.

One never knows when a stranger will become a friend and what a simple conversation about weather can turn into. God bless her, her husband and keep her safe on her way back home to Texas.

when or how what we say and do will affect others. Praise Him for developing frendships!

Maybe we will see them here some time! :)

detecting or God. Thank God He is on the throne. I've prayed that I will put a watch over my mouth so I speak only when there is a need and I don't let it (mouth) get me in trouble. The need doesn't have to be my need or one I understand. Maybe her need was to hear something pleasant and to hear about the forom here and God's love too.

Where I work I complimented 2 women on their nice outfits. I got chewed out because one didn't appreciate the compliment (go figure).

That $2 bill I was given as a birthday gift - got chewed out about it as we aren't supposed to accept gifts. (Others receive gifts daily from the snack, one lady bought a janitor a pair of shoes because she thought the ones she had on were ragged and someone even gave this same lady $50 cash as a Christmas present.) It is who you are there as to what you can get away with. So unless I am alone with someone else to chat the walls have ears and big mouths.

do not know Jesus and haven't His love in their hearts! Remember, they are blind and deaf, Spiritually! And we need to be wise as serpents and as peaceful as doves, for otherwise we can be persecuted! Jesus was persecuted and so will we be persecuted for we aren't above our Master! Jesus came to serve and we need to serve but oh how it hurts when that service is almost to the point of not enduring unto the end, but with Jesus we can and by faith we will!

I will agree with you that God put a stop on your mouth that you will only speak where sinners' eyes and ears won't see or hear for harming you and that you'll speak kindly but firmly when 'tis needed to correct what someone says or thinks about Jesus...for we must not compromise our faith in Whom we believe and serve, faithfully! Let us not cast our Pearls before swine unless they should turn and rend us!

To God be the Glory for great things He has done! Praise God and Thank You, Jesus, for keeping Pete in the palm of Your hand!

God Bless!
Betty
