In all my digging years this is the first one dollar Mexican coin I have dug. It's almost as big as a half dollar US and is thicker. One peso is worth 10 cents US.

And here's some others I have dug. The banks only accept the bi-metal coins, all others are very hard to use. If you think the dollar sign is the symbol for peso you wont get confused, as it is.
Living near Mexico I find a lot of these and save them till I get a bunch to cash in. They sure are a lot of fun to pop up - being good sized and all. Steve in so az
