A find from my after Christmas Trip I didnt realize was old

Last weekend my wife asked me for some new change and I started digging into my detecting clad chest to find some quarters for her
and noticed a button I had thrown in from my trip south I had taken and posted on 12/31/16.
It was shiny so at the time I thought it was new. I noticed a faint eagle on it and showed it to my wife and we started cleaning it with a brass brush.
It looks to be a very worn Civil War Infantry Cuff Button! It must have been re-plated at a later time.
There appears to be a Scovill/Waterbury back mark. You can still see some of the plating I left on.

I found the button at the park where I pulled the 1867 shield nickel and it is in the pic I originally sent my wife that day.
Was a nice surprise.

Nice CW Infantry Button! Congrats.

Great find Mike!
very cool indeed
