to school in Phoenix for a week. I found time to do a bit of hiking with my buddy Tom, who was spending the winter out there.
He took me into the Superstition Mountains. These are a couple pictures I took. They are not all that great as I only had a 2 meg camera but better than nothing.
I saw this big sugaro cactus and asked Tom to get a picture of me standing by it. You can see the dummy got a great shot of the dirt but cut out half the cactus. What a moron <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
We found hands full of the simi-precious stone called Apache Tears close by in a dry creek bed he had found.
I just thought the other was pretty

It's hard to tell in the second photo but the desert is much greener than I would have expected. Nice pictures Royal. Even though we go to Arizona every winter I have never been in the desert. I'd love to spend some time wandering around it to see what it's like.

....and the cactus too!! <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol"> <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol"> <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">
Gotcha Royal. <img src="/metal/html/grin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":grin">
I seriously didn't know that they could get that big. Nice shots.

which I imagine gets more rain than the desert.
The Cactus was in a desert area. I wish that dummy had gotten the whole cactus. It was huge but there were plenty that big in the area
