Allthough they are omnivouris, but don't fergit great mousers, and mainly live and hunt solo, they are capable of pack hunting YOUNG, i repeat, YOUNG deer. But to even think they can contribute to any type of population control ?!??!?
An Ohio deer can weight in at 100+#'s, a coyote a whoppin 20-30#.

This is coming from a long time deer hunter, fur trapper and outdoorsman. Here in Michigan coyotes eat mostly rodents and dead animals. They have been known to try to kill young or wounded deer, but only if they are hard up for food. A big coyote here is 50 #'s and we have deer that go over 200! Just my 2 cents! :)
