A few winter photos

Nothing special, just playing around at a local park after a fresh snowfall. After viewing all my photos I can see that I need to adjust my white balance a bit.

Try going back to the picnic tables and use a telephoto lens and shoot them a little tighter and compress the tables in one shot. Move to the left of the tables and shoot down the length of them with 3 or 4 in the shot. Could make an interesting abstract shot.

TIP: when shooting people with flash try using the cameras preset "cloudy white balance". We found out that you get better skintones.

The picnic tables were shot with a 70-200 lens. I agree that the angle should have been different but I shot from the plowed road out of sheer laziness. The snow was about knee deep and I didn't want to wade into it to get the best angle.
I am going to try your flash tip as I've been working on my flash techniques the last few weeks. I have been very discouraged with my flash shots, they have been somewhat soft and the skin tones have suffered too. I planned to upgrade my cheapy flash and add a diffuser. But the cloudy white balance setting sounds good so I'll give that a try.
Thanks!
