A Few Thoughts 6.5X9 AT Pro Concentric Coil

A few thoughts,

I have not heard much said about the 6.5X9 Concentric coil for the AT Pro. I will tell you it's a great coil in trashy parks, it pin points well, solid depth, it works at different sweep speeds from very slow to medium and faster if needed with no issues. You can slow it way down and work through trash very nicely pulling out coins, it discriminates pop tops or screw lids a lot better than the DD Coils. The weight and balance of the AT Pro is real nice with this coil as well. I think the 6.5X9 coil turns the AT Pro into a little park or school ground detecting monster, what the heck it's a fun little coil to use and still gets OK ground coverage. I look forward to the 5X8DD coil being available for the higher mineralized trashy ground that's out there. I think with all three of these coils the AT Pro should handle a lot of types of hunting very well.

I do like how the AT Pro performs in iron trash and feel that its one of the detectors strong points. Also the Pro mode is really nice and allows you a lot of usable information in general and works great in trashy areas along with the iron audio to give you a grip of usable information on targets in the ground.

You have some good points. A lot of the same can be said for the 9" x 12" coil, and it too is good for separating junk from good targets, but probably not as good in trashy area.

Thanks John,

I know you burn a lot of ground with your AT Pro and you know what I am talking about with the 6.5X9 coil and the way it performs in the field. Sounds like the 9X12 has a lot of the same characteristics as it's little brother.

I bought the 6.5x9 for my grandson to use in the water. At 9 years old it is easier for him to swing and pinpoint with underwater than the stock DD coil.
His first ring was a Mood ring and the last target this year was his first silver ring with a gold initial top. He can not wait for the warm water to return. He is just a bit too small for a set of waders. Also the fresh water beaches are pretty clean this time of year. He will probably hit the shallow salt water beaches next year. Next weekend he will be sand sifting in a local club hunt for the second year. He is learning fast and I think he may become a formidable competitor for me in the near future.
