A few silver coins

At the end of last week I went to an open sports area which the local council had ripped up (ploughed) and levelled. Thought it was worth a try
and found two copper halfpennies (1929 and 1943) and three silver coins: a 2/- (florin) (1947 and 50% silver), a 6d (1940) and a 3d (1915),
both 92.5%silver. The sixopence and threepence were within 2" of the surface, and the 2/- was at least 6" down, could have been 8". Found a
few other coins, mostly `1c and 2c with 5 $2. Was using the Fisher F4 with the 11" DD coil. Lots of trash, mostly aluminium cans, some whole
and some not. Detected for about 6 hours altogether, so not a lot of coins, but the silver was nice.:)

Great job, silver is always sweet. I'm always looking for moved dirt and have friends and family that give me call when they see these places. Spys ,I call them. lol. Its a great thing.

Thanks guys...I forgot to mention in the post, the US quarter is included only for size comparison.

Also, I cleansed 2 of the $2 coins to show what they look like. HH

Copper halfpennies? Florins? 6d's and 3d's?
Sixpence-threepence?

I take it you're not in the U.S.?

In Australia...pennies, shillings etc have not been in circulation since 1968...dollars and cents came in in 1966 (2 yr. overlap) $1 coins were introduced in 1984, $2 coins in 1988. 1c and 2c were discontinued about 1992, last mintage was 1991. The first Australian coins were minted 1910 (silver) and 1911 (copper). Before that we used English coinage, and before that we used coinage from various countries and sometiomes hard grog (rum). Before that, the people who were here didn't need or use coins, so I guess they didn't need detectors either.
