A few Saturday morning finds.

Back to WP at the mound around the bandstand. Beautiful 1864 two center right next to an iron spike and 1892 and 1907 Indian heads. Used the small coil and tried to clear out some of the iron. I might make it out tomorrow morning for a while.

You guys are amazing. I just want to know if Rany cleaned that 1944 dime up or not. Boy that looks pretty good, Rainy.:| I promise I won't tell the coin dealer if you cleaned it or not. You know me, I'm still "sweating" over how far we can clean or not in order to keep value, but that sucker looks good in my eyes. Great finds, both of you.

Beautiful stuff Ed. I'm eating my heart out. They keep tellling me: "It ain't over till it's over", but I'm starting to wonder?:( Keep sending those great pics.

Hi Marc
The only thing I'll do with silver is rinse it off with mild soap and water. That usually does the trick, sometimes if there is some stubborn dirt left I'll use a soft bristle toothbrush gently.
HH Butch NY.

That's great. I forgot that silver holds up pretty good, but doesn't it sometimes tarnish? Well, if the soap and water does it, why even think about the tarnish remover. That coin looks beautiful. Thanks for the tip. I used to collect coins, and loved it, back when you could still find old coins redily in your change, but those days are over. The only way now, I think is what we're doing, or buy them at the coin store. I'd like to start learning about the different grades of coins, and what they're worth. Heck, let's face it, we're pretty much forcing ourselves into another exciting hobby, called coin collecting, just by the fact that we're finding coins with our detectors. It's frustrating sometimes, but I love it and I want to get better at both the detecting and the coin knowledge. Take care. Marc.

I guess alot depends on what type of soil the silver coin is in. I have found silver coins with rust on them if there real close to iron. Also the silver coins I find when water hunting always seem to be black in color.

they are truly beautiful finds! Okay, I'm going to tell you what I like. I love the details on the coins, the little leaves & tree branches on your top photo coins. The medalian with Mary on it is interesting. But the arrow head relic is fascinating! What does this relic with Schenectady mean? The 1800's coins are fascinating too. A bit like our goldfields pennies, in that they're fun to find. I always love seeing your photos Butch. Keep them coming. I've got a thousand questions on American relics, but it would take too long to type it all here! Nice to see something different other than the Aussie ones.
