Hit a park today and found my 1st 3ringer. Then I kept searching and searching and after an hour and 1/2 of diggin' iffy faint signals at 8" to 15", I had to quit. All in all I came home with my 1st and my 24th 3ringer in the same day!!!! All these were in an 8' x 10' area. I left more for another day.

Neat.... The ctx was saying 15 inches?

No actually it would say 9" but it was the length of my lesche plus at least 6" more.

Very nice finds, especially for no longer than your hunt lasted. There should be other nice things to find in that in addition to bullets........HH

Congrats on the Very nice finds i'm seeing the same results with the depth with my ctx 3030 what a beast

What were your bullets reading on the CTX

They were reading 12-37, 12-38, 12-39, 12-40. The differences were probably due to the condition of the bullet that was under the coil.

My hunt actually lasted about 3 1/2 hours, the first 2 hrs. I hadn't found anything. Then stumbled onto this little spot. A fellow member of the MD club I'm in, said where I found these used to be a target area.

Most of them do look like they were shot. But I think you have a few drops too. Congrats

good job !!!! what is the significance of the 3 ring verses 2 or what-ever,,,

There are many different variations of bullets that were used during the civil war. The three ring 58's were the most common used bullets that was used by both sides but primarily the north. My CTX should be here next week and I will try to do some TID numbers for relics just like some have done for coins. I have a good base of CW bullets buttons and a few plates that might help some. I have never owned an FBS machine so it may take a little while for me to get comfortable with it so I won't be passing along bad information

I am up to about 20 Civil War bullets with the CTX. As "2000 nkb" indicated in this post, I too am getting 12-37 to 12-41 readings on the bullets. The only exception was "grape shot" size musket balls that were reading around 12-34.

PS- Nice finds!

Congratulations Nathan, you are going to make some club members jealous............:ranting:
