A few recent mods using the Whites meter assembly, XLT/Gold Master type

Old California

New member
Recently shared the Compass Coin Scanner Pro II mod, another recent mod was a Teknetics Mark III, and last night replaced the meter assembly on a past mod (Mark 1) from several years ago.

With the mods, Went with White's XLT/GoldMaster type meter pod the thinner meter version. With a little imagation, and analog parts from other models put together three cool looking meter assemblies each a little different.

One of them, the red Mark 1 with the smaller ID screen is from a Whites GoldMaster. Luckily, Was able to use three of the push tabs from this particular meter to operate Disc mode and both all metal and GB mode. Pretty cool, push of a tab springs the Mark 1 to Disc mode or all metal or GB mode.

Plus, George Payne designed these three. The Compass Coin Scanner Pro II, And both Mark I & Mark III durning his stay with Teknetics.

Thanks for looking,
Paul

I like that modification alot, very professional to details, your a very talented and have a gifted mind regarding modifications, still love the Deus shafted GPX mod the best.

What are your next modifications that you have planned ??? or will that be a surprise.

Thsnks Mega,

Yes, Indeed have another mod on the bucket list needing to be completed. Auctally almost started last week but lost my hand jigsaw to cut and fabricate a housing.

The Mark I meter assembly above, with the push buttons that I may replace the smaller ID screen with larger one. Was in a hurry to out this together the other night, it works great but needs a larger ID face plate.

Have super light weight Explorer mod on the books, that too will be completed this year. Deus shaft for the Explorer mod, with 3030 battery pack underneath the armrest.

Thanks Mega!

I use the Mark 1 detectors and enjoy the older electronic circuits better than the new ones. I read a lot of post on a lot of forums, but i do not post a lot. The mods you have shown us are great. I just finished putting new britches on one of my Mark 1 detectors and would like to show you the new results. I had to make an 18" metal brake first to construct the aluminum case, learn to weld aluminium with a propane torch, and fit it into the new housing. I installed two micro push button switches on the meter case to take the place of the toggle switch. The aluminium pin between the switches avoids the chance of pushing both at the same time. Power is achieved with two 9 volt batteries for 9 volts and one 9 volt in series with two 1 1/2 volt AA batteries..
It has the depth mod installed and i will install other mods when i get the data. Hopefully. I would like to install a small digital led unit to give readout to match the analog meter also. Any suggestion from you would be great.

Wow Dwayne!

That is the coolest Mark 1 mod I've ever seen, right down to the push button disc/pinpoint push buttons.

You really went out with this mod, and the control box all hand fabricated to boot! My hat's off to you, a lot of thought, sweat went into the Mod.

I really don't have anything to add, you did it all! Maybe, it's something I did years ago on a Mark I Mod. If you have room, install a White's coil connector so you can use White's coils. This eliminates the coil connector adaptor, giving you the opportunity using either White's or Teknetics/bounty hunter coils. That's about all I can add, you already did the push button setup as not too many know these can be used to activate the disc/pinpoint feature.

I've got another Mark I Mod on the books, similar to yours with the control box. Thin and black, you beat me to it :)

Thanks so much for sharing the Mod, be proud it's a masterpiece

Thanks for all the praise and the the suggestion for adding the White's coil plug. A very good idea. I think you and i have a lot in common pertaining to the older machine mods. We enjoy every minute of it and if we do sweat a little we don't notice it because it is forgotten in the anticipation of the finished product. i will be watching for your next mod to appear and wish you luck on the construction.
Have a Happy Memorial Day weekend

Dwayne.

Thank you Dwayne,

I'm so glad you posted your Mark I Mod, extremely nice well done as it encourages me to complete my last Mark I Mod.

I misplaced placed my jigsaw, for the life of me can't find it. That's the holdup, May have to purshase another.

With the depth Mod on my Mark I, May not have a need for it. My Mark I runs a little hotter than my Mark III, can't run Sensitivity at Max with the Mark I and it's still stock. What I may do is add the depth Mod, but add a toggle switch so I can select the R112 100ohm resistor, or select back to the stock 180ohm resistor when the ground won't allow higher Sensitivity.

It'll be something needed for my type of soil, run it with stock Sensitivity were needed and those areas allowing higher Sensitivity flip it to boost mode. That's the only way I can add the depth Mod, I May add this to both Mark I and Mark III.

Thanks again Dwayne, appreciate you sharing your Mark I Mod. You too have a Happy Memorial Day weekend.
