A Few Questions

Hi! I am about to pull the trigger on joining the E-Trac club but had a few questions:

1) With Minelab now manufacturing these units in Malaysia are there any quality issues to be concerned about?

2) How sensitive is the E-trac to rain? I live in Florida where a storm can pop out of nowhere fast. Up till now I have been using an Excalibur II, which laughs at the rain. Provided I use the the all weather control box cover is the E-Trac perfectly safe to use in the rain or do I really need to be careful?

Thanks!

( 1 ) - From what I've been reading in this forum the newer Malaysian E-Trac's are just as good as the older models that were assembled in Ireland.

( 2 ) - Yes, no question about it - what ever you do get a good rain & dust cover - keeps the water out of the processor and keeps the screen from getting scratched !
The covers made by Minelab are very tight fitting - there's a few after market mfgs. that make nice covers that are a lot easier to put on and take off than the Minelab cover.
Kellyco has a nice cover that has two velcro straps on the bottom - any way you look at it - spending $15.00 on a cover is a lot better then having a $1500.00 machine damaged.

Also, it's good idea to never hold the coil end of your machine up higher than the control box - water from the coil can run up the inside of lower leg and there's a chance it can get in to the electronics !
