a few patch cord pics.....

I've had a few emails asking for more information on how to make the patch cord I posted above. Here are a few pictures, taken during the process. The parts were purchased at Radio Shack and contained enough for two cords. I suppose you could buy the material for one setup. But I wanted to use the plugs with the cable attached to save me from buying a piece of cable and reduce the amount of soldering. And since the 2 MONO plugs were attached to the mono jack via a Y cable, I'd just as well buy a two-pack of Stereo jacks and make two patch cords. HH Randy

Here are the components I used.....

Here is the Y-cable assembly with the mono jack cut off (I threw away the mono jack as I just needed the two mono plugs for the two patch cords)

Here are the two "tails" stripped with the plug "boot" in place. Notice in the bottom assembly the "boot" is slid onto the cable? Make sure you slide the boot onto the cable before connecting the wires. Otherwise, you'll never get it slid over the plug and connections.

Here are the two soldered connections on each plug. As you are looking into the connector from the cable end, Tip is the terminal on the right side. And Tip is the center conductor of the cable.

Squeeze down the keeper tabs, slide up the boot, screw it down to the plug assembly and you are done. Here are two of the finished products.

Perhaps a video of the actual construction would help as well....anybody...anybody
