A Few New Ways To Find Old Sites To Hunt

E-Trac-Ohio

I've been in the timber cutting and excavating business most of my life - so I know a lot of the local contractors.

A few years ago I started asking other timber cutters if they had seen any old abandoned houses or cellar holes on the land where they were logging.
I also started asking some of the local excavating contractors if they had any old house or building demolition jobs lined up.

I've gotten some great leads over the last few years by talking to timber cutter's and excavators / demolition contractors.

Last week a local excavator told me about an old farm house that he's going to be tearing down next month.
I spoke to the home owner and he gave me permission to hunt on his property.
He told me that the house was built in 1861 and that he was taking the house down because it was beyond repair and it was loaded with black mold.

I did a three hour hunt around this old house after work last night ...
Found a 1834 Large Cent - 1893 Indian Cent - 1937 Buffalo Nickel - 1951 & 1952 Rosie Dimes and ( 9 ) Wheat Cents.

Good luck !

Great advice!!!!

I'll definitely be looking into this, thanks.
