A few MXT Questions?

I've had mine for about three years now. This is my first metal detector and have been very pleased. I'm not able to hunt that often so I'm still no expert with this machine. I hunt coins and relics. A fellow who has one said since that was the case it is best to use it in relic mode. Is this so? I've never tried it any other way. Also what does, say, gold jewelery register as in relic mode. The silver rings I have found register as buckles. I usually dig everything that reads buckles because its usually clad, silver coins or some sort of silver jewelery. I rarely dig anything that comes up as buttons unless it reads right at 20, usually a nickle. What sort of stuff am I missing out on?

I also hunt in relic, forget the icons. Think about it you got two size buttons, bullets and buckels. Where do medals, pins etc. fit. I just look at the VDI numbers. If a nickels hits at 20 for you, it will be a 20 in all the modes. To answer your other question you are missing all gold jewelry unless you happen to find a gold ring with a VDI of 20. Rob

Ok, try some of these numbers. Rob

The answers to many of your questions can be found on Chris Ralph's website at:

http://nevada-outback-gems.com/MXT_files/MXT_basepage.htm

Pay particular attention to "The MXT FAQ's". In that article is a list of VDI numbers and the likely targets indicated.

Good luck,
Bob

It is really from Chris's site. I didn't remember where I had got it last year. Rob
