Finally got some rain recently and a bit cooler now. Havent posted in a while. Been so busy with work but finally had a few hours to get out with the Pro and hit one of my old school spots this p.m. Lots of mosquitoes !! :rage::rant: Found a good bit of clad (again) and a few other finds. (An unknown Aladdin kids token) Also, couple of wheats and a 1974 1/2 dollar that cleaned up real nice. I was happy with it. Beats diggin zincolns. At first, thought it was another smashed up soda can but it wasnt very deep. The MXT Pro got it right. Thanks for viewing. CCH

Nice finds you had one great hunt ...Congrats

:crazy:WTG EJ. That Dollar looks good man, I had noticed that I hadn't seen you much. Keep it up, CUL and thanks for posting. Kay C. AKA

Thanks Floridason. Forgive the typing error. I was looking in a coin book and typed 1/2 vice $1. I thought some 1974's were silver but this one was not...it was copper / clad. VDI was around 92-93... I was pretty excited. My first one. Hope to meet with you soon. CCH

Nice hunt Cajun. Get yourself some "00" size steel wool and you will clean up those rusty/crusty wheats and see the dates. Does a great job on many coins. ( Avoid using abrasives on rare coins.!!)

That's the best "1/2 dollar" I've ever seen! You must have been working a lot of hours. Get some R & R and thanks for posting. HH, Nancy

Nancy, hi !

I have been too busy...You're right. SORRY FOR and MY APOLOGIES for the "type-o". Tried to edit the 1/2 out of the post but it was too late. As mentioned above, was reading, typing , hurrying and got a little mixed up .... Regardless, I was pretty happy to find the Ike $1. Gonna keep it forever since it was my first $1 coin. I sure do love my MXT Pro ! Thanks for your comments and really enjoy reading thru this website as it relaxes me after a long days work. Take care. CCH

Those large dollars are fun to dig EJ, kinda gets your blood pumping at first sight........ congratulations.........

You got that right Larry ! I dug my first Ike Dollar (1976) a few weeks back. It flipped out of the hole totally unexpectedly & sat on edge in the clutter. I sat there staring at the reeded edge with hints of silver color for what seemed like minutes with my mind racing. I had just dug a 193? merc and a 1940 Jefferson nickel so all the possibilities were running through my head. I was hoping it was the big lady but I'll take an Ike dollar anyday. Nice finds Cajun !

Thanks a bunch to Scott, Larry & Nancy, Bear , Hank and KC. Its was a BIG coin and my blood was pumping ! Tried not to get too excited. It turned out to be just clad anyway but it was good to see Ike. LOL. Thanks for all the support and feedback. CCH

It's so hard to be perfect. I tell that to Larry all the time. I knew it was a typo, but had to try to make you laugh. I don't think I've ever found an Ike dollar. That's a "keeper" for sure and playing in the dirt is a wonderful way to ease your mind of the days long hours. Keep up the great detecting and thanks again for posting. I love reading about your finds and it's a bonus with the photos. HH, Nancy

Nancy,

To be honest, I've never seen many Ike $1's in my lifetime (46 years) much less found any MDting until now. The old school yard I found him in closed down in the mid 80s. Makes sense to me. I'm sure there's a story behind Ike's disappearance but I'll never know it. I also found a few 1965 quarters and dimes that same day... Just missing silver :ranting: Gonna hit it again soon and let 'yall know what happens with me and the MXT Pro. thanks for viewing CCH

Nice finds! That dollar makes a bunch of headway on digging zincolns!

Nice finds, I've only found one large coin myself (a 50c piece) and that was a couple yrs ago, found it in a school yard also. Jimmie
