Hi Johnny Cache.
It' very strange but it every time I find a buffalo or v-nickel deeper than 6" it ID's in the penny range with a high tone, I always recheck my holes to make sure that was it. Not sure if this happens to anyone else but I'd be interested to find out. Up to the 6" mark they always come in at a solid 52-53 with a medium tone.
