A few keepers from my last two hunts:clapping:

I got out twice to a local park this week, that everyone has hit forever. I have never got anything old there, but recently got the 1904 city maps and was looking at them wondering where people would go and have a picnic. Right off the bat, I got a silver Rosie. Hunted a while more and got two other wheaties. I got a nice deep coin signal and dug out my first ever buffalo nickel, can barely see it, but date is 1915. I called my brother to tell him I found a buffalo. When we got off the phone, I checked the hole and there was a 1919 wheat penny in there as well. I got back to that park today, and found another silver Rosie right off the bat, weird? Hunted a while longer and then got another wheat penny. Soon after that I got a deep penny signal with a large box and vdi. It was reading at 6 inches and every time I checked the whole, my machine ready as a full box penny. I kept checking the hole until it was in my pile of dirt. This little item is super small and I found it at 7+ inches. When I finally located it in the dirt I was surprised of how small it was and how strong it was ringing off on my machine. It is pretty heavy for it's size and very hard, not lead. I went over to my folks house to show my parents my finds and they said that they had just seen this show on meteorites. They said that it looks similar to what was on the show, and I can't really think of anything else it would be. I don't think that a piece of steel or iron this small would ring off so loud. I will have to look into it a bit and see if I found a meteorite, that would be awesome! When I was getting ready to go, I decided to detect one more area and sure am glad I did. I found a 1901 Indian Penny in pretty darn good shape, this is only my second one, and both this year! I love breaking that hundred year mark. I also found the center of a Boyd's Battery medallion. It is dated 1879 and after looking online I found that it was a quack medicinal cure all type medallion that was surrounded by little disks of various metals that were supposed to create electrical energy and cure you lol!! Some fun finds, also had over 200 clad coins. Can't wait to get back down there when my 10DD Ecxelerator coil shows up, it has been a month so far on backorder, but hopefully soon. Thanks for looking and happy hunting!

Nice finds n the coins.
Did you try a magnet on the small rock.
It almost looks to be meteorite by the shape and color of it. Worth holding on to it.

Check out the post I put on back about ( Update Sask.Meteorite )

You have had some nice hunts Jonny. I would test to see if that "rock" was magnetic. If so, I'd say you have a nickel meteorite. It would be pretty rusty if it was an iron or nickel/iron meteorite.

Pretty darn cool finds! Love them all and let us know what you find out about the stone. That's cool! HH and thanks, Nancy

Way to go, if the rock is ringing out loud I would bet it's iron. very nice coin also........:clapping:

Well, stone failed the magnetic test. I chipped at a piece of it and saw shiny red underneath. A copper bullet, I can't believe I didn't recognize what it was. I find lots of 22 shells and projectiles, but this one had me going for a few minutes. No meteorite for me, but still had a great time. Thanks all for the great feedback!

I was swinging my MXT in my back yard and was getting a goofy reading,,so i dug,,,nothing in the hole it was in the plug i didn't see anything.

So i remembered what Jimmy Normandi did when nugget hunting,,,I sprinked the bottom of the plug dirt on my coil and got a hit !

Blasted stuff was #6 shotgun lead shot,,,,I Love my MXT.

So i know somewhat how you feel went you found your strange object.

Hi,

Nice finds, I have some suggestions for determining the possibility if your sample is a meteorite. Like the previous suggestions you can check to see if it is attracted to a magnet if so find a unglazed piece of ceramic (maybe a tile or the bottom of a coffee mug) scratch the unglazed ceramic if it doesn't leave a black or grey streak mark then you can rule out magnetite (a common iron-oxide mineral)if so the chances are better that you have a meteorite since nickle iron meteorites don't generally leave a streak.
