A few interesting finds today with the XT70...

Got about 1.5 hours of quality time in with the XT70 today on a snow covered field. The snow was really a good thing as it insulated the ground some and digging was easier, it was a balmy 33F/1C and some of the snow had melted off. Was digging most targets trying to figure out what the detector is saying, a lot of iron and a trashy area of foil pieces. I learned a lot about the detector but still fumbling with the settings, I have a little more control over the settings than I care for. Made a few interesting finds but that trashy area slowed me down. Here

Nice old finds Mike,

You guys and gals have it rough searching in conditions like these, I tip my hat off to you.

I'll be getting the X-70 here soon and looking forward to using her, I've tried a friends X-50 before for a week and was really impressed with the unit while relic hunting and I know the X-70 will be much better.

Congrats Mike and looking forward to viewing more of your finds,
Paul (Ca)

Nice finds, Mike, for a "slow day". Would have been a "banner day" for me:wacko:

Are you hunting in Patterns, All Metal or Prospecting Mode most of the time?? Just curious:confused:

Trying to learn the controls all at once didn't work well with me so a friend suggested I just run in all metal and adjust the sensitivity, which is how I am running it with the 10.5" DD. I have the sense at 25. Have about 8 hrs on the machine now and have gotten to know the machine a bit, will start playing with controls soon. HH, Mike

Thanks, Mike. That's where I'm running mine most of the time now (All Metal, Coins Mode). My dealer, Chuck (in Colorado), advised somewhat the same. There are so many different ways to operate it, that one can get caught up in trying it all and not becoming proficient at any:surrender:.

I'm not one for digging halfway to China for an iron target, but if I pinpoint one that squeals a high tone, I'll dig it because it's shallow. I run mine from 12-20 Sensitivity; any higher than that and I just get confused by mixed signals:wacko:.

Thanks again!
