A few gold coin ID numbers...

Hi, all...

While doing some air testing for the Equinox 800, I ran some U.S. gold coins on the CTX, as well, as I haven't seen posted the numbers for some of these...

Running it in Ferrous/Coin separation, here's what I got...

$1 1853 (type 1) 12-11
$1 1874 (type 3) 12-09
$2.50 1907 12-22
$5.00 1901 12-30
$10.00 1903 12-37 to 12-38

Stephen-In Ferrous/Coin that’s ALL you’ll see,for 95% of targets. In case you were being facetious,I know what you mean!

Steve after seeing your Equinox chart im confident the ctx is what I'm after.

Idx every good target I tested came up at 12..
18k, yellow and white. Pt, 24k, 925 and 999 silver were in that range. No other tested targets would land in that area except for 1 local currency coin (worthless) that is super light aluminum and phased out 15 years ago or so.
Trying to remember the settings , think was high trash, sea water on, smooth. Going to test this out on the beach during a trip next week. Hopefully can use that #12 line all summer long

I’m hoping to see you make some good finds Stephen. The CTX is an absolutely amazing machine that continues to amaze me every time I go out,which in the summer is every day. I wish I could be on your beach right now,it’s nothing but cold and ice outside here!

I need to work on the depth. 8" just won't cut it on a pt999 or 24k unless it was dropped within the last day or so. Even with the tdi if I actually find a low spot i have to pick the goodies out from under or between fist sized rocks... deep whispers

Those are the numbers that keep me from becoming a permanent silver sniper. There is a chart floating around somewhere with all the US coin types and repsonses per each mode.

I keep digging every conducting target in my ghost town field because I know there just has to be one of those gold coins waiting out there somwhere.

Very good information. Note the relation between CO number and weight/size of coin - as value/size/weight increases from $1 to $10, the CO number increases from 09-11 to 37-38. Please see my recent post here dated Feb 17 on relation between CO value and (lead) weight. In essence, the CO value can be considered a measure of weight! The information you provide fits well with the weight relationship with CO value.
