Finally sold my Sigma lens and for a good price... Will be saving my money for a new old lens this fall. I have decided to buy a Nikkor 500 mm f/4 ais or p lens. A couple just sold on the big bay for around 2300.00 so it's going to take a while. This summers metal detecting should take care of it but until then I will have to use my 80-200 and kit lens.. here is a Catbird taken with the 80-200

Nice pics Tom.

When I looked at them originally I thought that the bird was too dark and would be better if slightly lightened but when I zoomed in found the bird was very natural looking as is (lightening might take away from that???).

Sounds like that new Nikor will be worth waiting for ... and I know you'll put it to good use. Can't wait to see your pics with it.

Good luck detetcing and with your photography!

Thanks Gord, I did brighten it up a bit but it seemed better this way. The bird is in the shade and sunlight all around him which makes things more difficult. Danughter just told me she might move to south Fl from Washinton state so this may change my plans for the lens. Just have to wait and see. At any rate it will be great to be with her and the children some plus may open up some south fl detecting for me...
