A few finds this weekend

floodplaindetector

Well-known member
Finds are from a partial weekend detecting. I detected a couple hours from home at a few city parks where the ground wasn't fully frozen, just half frozen
Dimes are 1911 (8+ inches deep),1920 (6 inches deep). Nickel is 1906 (7 inches deep).
1898 Indian head penny and old band pins came from another town's old park in that area where a detecting buddy and I were at last fall and he got a Spanish American war button and I also got a 1898 Indian then.
Old band pins were pretty deep (8 inches or so) and rang just like an Indian head penny (12-35).
I'm thinking the other object is an old cufflink. It gave me a reading just like a deep old nickel so I was a little disappointed when I first saw it.

I think its time for me to get another Etrac. My detector would not turn on initially. I switched batteries and still wouldn't power up.
I finally remembered someone's post (IronSight ??) who said give it a good slap and by George that worked this time.
I have used this Etrac since 2008 and it has a ton of miles on it ; including a lot of rain.

Congrat's on the nice finds. I see in the past few weeks you have been doing real good, wtg
.
Sorry to hear about the Etrac not wanting to turn on. I know you have a lot of hours on that Etrac over the years and they don't last for ever. One nice thing, with all the finds you and the Etrac has made it has paid for the old Etrac and the new one aleady.

Thanks Mark, Yes I think its time to get a new machine ; this time I will keep a screen cover on it right away so it doesn't get beat up.
Mine has been in 6 degree temps also so it has a very durable machine.
When I got fitted with that orthopedic tennis elbow brace this spring I had my doubts but that really helps me and im able to swing all day without a harness and pain.
i've been hitting some super old parks this year for my quest to find a large cent but im sure my chances would improve it I got into some real old private homestead
sites.

Lots of nice digs there! Hate to hear about the Etrac having problems. I know I've read it helps to take a pencil eraser and clean the battery terminals both on the battery and in the battery holder of the machine.
