A Few Extra Ducketts For Stocking Stuffers

Came home from work yesterday with an extra $170 shopping money and another $200 coming on Monday. This time of year I always bring all my beach jewelry finds to work and have a kind of a "Crazy Eddie" sale thing. The folks get good deals and so do I. Amazing how many people will jump to buy some gold and diamond jewelry for a hot savings...I do it every year. I didn't have a whole lot to bring this time, just a couple of chains and some modest diamond rings. Stuff I didn't want to send to the refinery when I did that big load of scrap rings a while back.

So I sold a titanium wedding band to a guy for $20...he was tickled with that. And a 14K ladies ring with 3 little diamonds in it for $50 to another guy. And a 14K men's ring with 9 diamonds to a guy for $200. And a ladies 10K gold chain with 18K cancer zodiac crab for $100. All great deals for the peeps and for me because there was a lot more that the wife the daughter or me kept and quite a few other items sold throughout the year. This stuff is the leftovers. And you know what? Next summer, I hear the tourists are coming back and plan to seed the beaches with gold again!

Here's what I sold this time:

This top one for $200...

...definitely an upgrade. And yeah, he got a deal too...but that's cool. For me, the best part is the finding it, the 2nd best the showing it off, and then after that if nobody near and dear wants it, selling it. :)

I think even if I find something more "blingy", this is about as pimp-time as I'm willing to go. It's a classy ring and gets a lot of comments. Anything more would be excess.

Very nice................Do you beach hunt all summer? I guess there is a knack to finding the good stuff. I go to Nags Head NC each year and do some digging in the evenings. Never find much but a few clad.

I beach hunt all summer, every Friday and Saturday night at low tide. I go for about 4 hours, 2 hours either side of low tide. Wet sand at the water's edge and in the shallow water. Best weekend this summer was 4 diamond rings in two nights totaling about $6000. This one accounted for $4000 of that.

He's in the black sellin' his tresure. AAAAARRR! What a pirate! Hey, what ever happened to the bad boy icon photo of you? You look like a nice guy in the pic now!

I've been called worse. :)

Actually, that's a picture taken as I was on my way to a Halloween costume wedding and reception a couple of years ago. Some of the family of the bride and groom actually thought I was the real deal, there to perform the ceremony...started talking to me about the wedding and stuff.

You know what else is cool? The guy that bought the little 14k ring with 3 small diamonds in it for his wife for $50? He brought it home to her Friday and he wanted to wrap it up for Christmas but he was afraid that it might not fit or that she might not like it. He had asked me if it was OK to bring it back if that was the case...get his $50 back. And despite the fact I was making him a killer deal, I said absolutely. WELL...he brought it home, showed it to her, and she tried it on. It fit perfectly. She cried and hugged him so hard she about crushed him...she LOVED IT! She won't take it off. That was a great feeling, knowing she likes the ring THAT much. It has a good home.
