A few Eldorado relics today

Dirt Poor

New member
I've been "under the weather" recently, and today was the first day I felt like digging in a while, so I went back to a place that I've been hunting for about 4 years. One of the buckles is CW, I'm fairly sure, but the other one looks more like a more modern Army belt buckle. Found one Sharps bullet and the other items. I got a good, solid signal and kept looking for the target in the loose dirt, only to find the rock-looking item. That thing was coming in at and above the nickel setting. Small meteorite, maybe??? Anyway, the Eldorado did great. Only thing about Tesoros that I don't particularly care for is shaft creak. You can take a brand new one and hunt for 6 hours with it, and you're gonna have a little creak when you swing. I have yet to see a uMax model that doesn't do this. But I can live with that, no problem.

Congrats on the finds, Rick! Glad to see the Eldorado is doing well for you.

Nice sharps bullet. I found a couple of those last week. I find the 3 ring minnie balls a lot more often. Sharps are kind of a rarity in the area I hunt.

I'm still excited about the two coins I found. Too bad they were corroded. Shield nickel and a 2 cent piece.

Thanks, Mo! Yes, I do really like the Eldo. It's my grab and go machine, now. Thanks again!

Shaft creak - I've only had that problem (so far) with one of my Tesoros. I wrapped a thin piece of electrical tape around the male part of the connection and that tightened it up very well. Glad you're liking the Eldo - I've been quite pleased with mine.

Thanks for that tip. I was able to get a little more tightness out of the upper plastic nut. Problem seems to be solved for that one!! I may have to try the tape thing on my Silver uMax, though.
