A few early fall photos

Today I told my wife that I was going out to take some early fall photos. I went to my favorite lake (newburgh Lake) in Livonia, Michigan. And also a construction site in the same park as the lake is in (Edward N. Hines park). The orange fencing around the construction site kind of looks like it has changed colors along with the sugar maple in the picture. I did a few macros of milkweed pods that had burst open, and of some bright red-orange bugs on the pods that had not already burst open, does anyone know what kind of bugs these are? I hope you enjoy my pics as well as I did taking them.......NGE

I just googled milkweed bugs, they ARE milkweed bugs.....lol they gather in large groups to scare birds away from their home.....nge

It is beginning to appear that you have been one of the best kept secrets on this Forum. These are beautiful pictures, well composed with outstanding detail and coloring. You did a great job capturing the fall colors too! All I can say is that you are one outstanding photographer! Kelley (Texas) :)

I used my FujiFilm HS20EXR. Super Macro handheld. The lens is attached cannot remove it, but it goes from 24mm wide to 720mm long (zoom). You can pick these cameras up for about 239.00 now, but I had to be one of the first to own one and mine cost 499.00......lol nge

Wonderful! Back in the early 70's there was an article in Field and Stream or some magazine like that about milkweed bugs and how great they ae as bait for panfish, so me and my brother quickly went out and caught a bunch over by Detroit coincidentally...my dad took us over to Walled Lake and yes, they are fantastic bait! I've been looking for them ever since, seems you found the mother lode!

And believe it or not, I did NOT have to take anymore than one pic of each photo, I think I am getting the hang of it, just look through the lens and snap away. The moon pics are the hardest, because there is sometimes way too much light and I can never remember the settings to do it right the first time. That is why, sometimes I take over 50 pics of the same subject, (trying different setting) everytime. This is one thing I remember, " If it doesn't focus in the lens, then it will be out of focus on your computer!".........nge
