A few days at the beach.....loosing my touch?

Goldstrike

Well-known member
Spent the last few days at the beach and came away with just a handful of finds. No gold, no silver this time:thumbdown:. I was still limping a bit from a badly twisted/sprained ankle so that's my excuse on this trip!!!LOL! I'm envious of those that are still finding gold and some silver and they deserve a lot of credit/recognition for being out there and doing what they do so well! I covered a lot of beach 'real estate' :twodetecting:and I think I did a reasonable job 'reading the beach' but still no high dollar stuff. Even the beach and 'Davy Jones Locker' can be a reluctant giver of it's hidden treasure sometimes!

The weather guessers lied to me again. I had planned a trip about 50 miles south of me for today. Supposed to be a nice (no rain) day.
Got up this morning and it was drizzling rain. Checked the forecast and it was supposed to stop in an hour or so. I get ready and started out and within a few miles I was in a downpour of rain. When it came time to turn towards the south I decided that I would not go that far and just hit one of the beaches a bit closer to home.

Got to the beach and for the next four and a half hours I played in the rain. I tried everything that I could think of to try to find something even clad. I covered a lot of territory.

My total for the day was a thorough soaking, $ .95 in clad. A bunch of zincolns. one toy car, Two pieces of junk jewelry and one 3 ounce lead sinker. Then to top off my day I knocked one of my hearing aids out of my ear and lost it when I took my headphones off. Thankfully it was my old ones.

those flat beaches just dont look like they would get alot of natural sand movement.. i hunted i figure about 8 to 10 miles of beach in 5 days.. we can only find targets that are within range of what our coils can see... in my case water conditions were terrible 3 out of 5 days and of course the last day when you dont have enough time to hunt in the water coditions are perfect... hope the ankle is healing well.. man george you had a rough day..better luck next time... nice pictures...

Thanks George and B.H.P.! It sounds like I'm not alone in coming up short! Yes, thanks to tramadol and Ibuprofen for the pain and swelling in the ankle! it's on the mend. Yes your right, even though there was a bit of wave action from the hurricane in Mexico a week or so ago, we experienced just a little of it as it travelled North before it dispersed. The surfers enjoyed those waves at least! The flat beaches don't seem to yield as much as those that have been churned up with major sand displacement and big cut's, so even though I put in some hours, I wasn't feeling 100% and couldn't do what I normally could do....BUT...........like all those that have the metal detecting addiction (it's a good addiction to have I think) lol! I'll be back at the beach sweeping the detector and hopefully gathering the gold again!!

Thats some monstrous surf! :surprised: I dont think you've lost your touch, its just one of those things, then BAM!:please:
