A few coins a ring and GB question

Hi All

A few recent finds from an old house lot. Nothing earth shattering but the 1900 v is cool the penny is 44S. I'm hoping some silver will pop out but not yet. I've been using the 6x10 DD but feel its depth is limited to probably the 6-7" range. I tried the 950 yesterday and couldn't get it to balance at +gain levels. In fact to balance at all I had to turn gain down to 7 or so. Even then the coil was still sounding overload when lowered to the ground. Ground readings with the 6x10 are 77-78 with the 950 it was reading 81. So I think the 950 wouldn't balance and I had a positive ground balance condition that I couldn't remedy. Any thoughts on this situation would be appreciated. Any suggestions on coils to check at deeper levels would also be appreciated. I'm thinking SEF

The thin 14K ring is less than 1 gram. I've found a number of these at a swimming area I hunt. The MXT just loves that small gold. VDI numbers on these thin rings run low like +3 to +7.

Oh yeah I always hunt in relic mode with the trigger forward and switch to middle position to check iron and dig the high tones.

[size=large]i'd be wondering about a bad coil as for the 950. the 10x12 SEF will give real good depth i hear. now i am unclear about this but i did read some time ago the higher the kHz the less depth when compared to the same size coil of a lower kHz machine. i know i got 6" on my 8x6 SEF minelab version and it was so clear i'd swear it was good for at least 2 more. can only confirm by finding something further down. i don't have the same confidence as yet with my 8x6 sef mxt version.i'm finding things but could have found these things with the 5.3 as well. next chance i get i'll try to test drive the 950. but my soil is around 91-93. i've gotten those readings from my MXT, XLT and my Garrett AT Pro so i'm confident of the mineralization around here.i also have Mt. St. Helen to remind me. i do favor my D2 coil. i know it gets 8" and it too was so solid a hit i felt i would have found the coin at 11". but once again can't confirm with-out finding the same coin at a deeper depth.
