A few bullets and a brass whatzit

2 Much Trash

Well-known member
A short hunt last weekend. Got into an iron patch, put on the 5" coil and scored a few bullets along with this brass piece. Anyone know what this piece might be. It looks familiar
Thanks, Bill

Looks like a barrel spigot. Nice hunt buddy.

My first thought like Digger was cask spigot but I think it is the stem of a old brass gas valve. The stop pin is almost identical.

That looks like it.

Thanks much guys. Keith, appreciate your efforts in trying to find out what it is. This area I hunted is a big time colonial site from the 1600's as well as civil war. Perhaps this piece is colonial. My buddy found a 1780 reale not 50 feet from where I dug this that same day. Felt like smacking him.

That is definitely a good spot!
Two trips back...pulled out (2) 1 Reales within 10 feet of each other and my buddy was NOT impressed!!! LMBO

I was impressed. We've been detecting together for 40 years. When either one of us makes a good find it's like we both did. But we do tease each other quite a bit. It's a lot of fun. What's LMBO stand for. Thanks again for posting that picture. Really was a help

Anytime. I am a research hound. I have a few whatsits in that case that I have no clue what they are. Will post them when I get back home.
