A few bulldozer finds ....

Hi Guys,

Here's a few finds that came to the surface complements of some local construction work. The site was dug up several weeks before we got to it. It had already been hit by a few other detectorists so my expectations were low. I guess they felt sorry for me and left a few targets behind ... including the usual pile of wheaties that seem to follow me everywhere. It was sure good to see some silver before the ground freezes. The '63 store card token was also a nice surprise. I'm not sure what the disk with "US 311" written on it is ... too large to be a button.

I agree..........a nice catch of coins and other goodies..............................................................John

The US 311 is a collar disc from a WWI army uniform. I think the textured background is from the WWI time. 311 is probably the battalion number, possibly the 311th machine gun battalion. Very nice finds. Congrats.

Nice assortment of goodies!!! Would love to find that much silver at one of my sites!!

I've never used a bulldozer before for recovering targets, but based upon your results, it seems to work great!

Very nice finds and way to keep the eyes open for opportunities like that.

Thanks for the info Doug. I figured that the disk was military but had no idea concerning its origin.

OUTSTANDING hunt...

I don't ever hunt this type of site (new construction), but it sure seems productive for many detectorists...maybe I need to think about it! Every time I try to hunt an empty lot where a house used to stand, but was bulldozed, all I find is assorted metal debris from the house demolition. Tough hunting!

But, you did a great job at your site!
