The first few month I had the explorer,I was more worried about how to set it then what I was doing.I finally went to im-16 and started to dig everything and took a mental notes and one day it all fell together,I'm sure I don't get it all but I get my share.

I have also found a ton of Golf Balls when detecting at Ballfields and other locations. I take every one of them and just add them to a Bucket I have. I originally was going to give them to a buddy for practice but he upped and disappeared and haven't heard a thing from him. I am just glad that I knew that his House was about to be taken back from the Bank from a guy that wanted to by my vehicle and had enough time to get my '57 Chevy Shortbox Stepside Pick-Up off of the property before the Auction and get it into storage. Now the thing is, What am I going to do with a 5 Gallon Bucket full of Golf Balls??? May just have to buy some Brass Rods and make some extra Brass Probes sometime. As far as your finds go, are you finding any Coins or have you found any Coins from any of your previous times out at this site of yours and if so, in quantity or just a few. Could be that you just need to find a better site. But stick with it and who knows, you may just hit a spot loaded with goodies. Good Luck and HH.
I detect on this site because it's local and is two hundred years old , its a footpath that leads to old woodland probably been used as a footpath for 80 years or so. I have found around 50 -60 coins off this footpath over the last 2 years. I go to this site about 3 times a month , i have a feeling a gold ring may pop out one day so i keep re working the site , i have started concentrating on low tones now and feel the SE will respond well when the coil goes over a gold ring. Nothing of any value so far off this footpath , i use this site for practice because its extremely iron contaminated with hot rocks and coke too. This site is nothing but a learning site for me to get better at finding non ferrous on iron loaded ground. When i go to less iron contaminated sites it now seems a breeze at knowing whats under my coil.
If you can work an iron infested site you can work any site on earth and less iron contaminated sites then become a joy to search.
I have to admit i enjoy doing iron infested sites - crazy i know. but there you go.
I like working crappy sites sometimes just to see what other good target i can "squeeze out" of the ground, targets that i missed on my last visits. Some site's that i go to are what you would class as worked out sites with few good targets left underground, i still manage to keep pulling the odd coin or bit of jewelry out of these sites though. I never ever give up on a site , if i have found nothing on a crap site , you can bet i will be back a week or 2 later to re work the site and sometimes find some other coins that i missed previously.
That is what this hobby is all about, to have fun and enjoy getting out and retrieving what ever may come out of the ground. Hope you find a few Keepers there at your site and Good Luck and HH.
I have lost count of the amount of golf balls i have found on the surface while coin hunting. Has anyone else found golf balls while searching .
Yeah, I hunted a field last year that was right across the street from the tee on a par 3 or so. Must have gotten close to 100 balls over the course of a couple months. Went out to the driving range one day and spent a little while getting rid of them.
