A feel good story

One day I got a call from an elderly couple I was friends with who attended the
First Congregational Church here in town. The woman said she lost her wedding
ring on their farm and couldn’t find it. She knew I liked to metal detect and asked if
I could look for it. I said I would get my friend and we would see if we could find it.
We went out with our Minelab detectors to their large farm and began detecting
around the usual places such as their driveway and around their house. We plied
her with more questions about where she may have lost it because we were taking
so much time looking for her ring. She said it is possible she lost it while working in her
vegetable garden. We detected in and around that but, again, we couldn’t find it.
We both finally gave up after a lot of time searching. The couple were standing
next to their compost pile and we explained that their farm is so large that it could
be anywhere. However, I figured I’d give it just one more try so I told them, in front of Stan,
“Let’s just pray that God would have mercy on us and help us find the ring.”
Immediately after that, I turned around, walked a straight line from the elderly couple, out into their field.
I put the detector coil to the ground and turned the detector on. I got a beep. I waved the coil
back and forth over that spot and continued getting a beep. The elderly couple saw I was getting
something as I knelt down in the field. They walked up and asked if I’d gotten something. I replied that I didn’t
know yet as I have to dig it up first.
Well, I dug it up and it was her wedding ring! Stan, with a scowl on his face said:
“It was luck.” I just smiled at him as I handed her the ring. We were greatly rejoicing
and laughing and praising God, except Stan.

That is an awesome story! You gotta believe! Wow! were you able to find anything for yourselves while you were on her property?

No, we didn't find anything but junk. The house was very modern. However, the original and very old farm house to the east of theirs which was
of the grandfather to the old friend, I did find some rather tasty old coins there. :clapping: I searched that old farm per their permission about a year
prior to her request to find her ring.
That old house was originally located in the back of the farm on an old Indian trail. When they put in the road about 1830, he moved the house up close to the road.
I and Stan did search the old place where that house originally was but didn't find anything.

oh wow nice story about the ring all the same. Nice to be able to reunite the ring to the owner! Good going!

Yep. He waited until we just were helpless. Often that's how He works. I wonder how that affected my agnostic friend when he was alone?

What I find so interesting about finding that gold ring is that Stan and I had given up looking for it.
We went to tell the couple as they were standing next to their compost pile.
This farm is at least 300 acres. Right after telling them that we should pray for God's mercy
to help us find it, I just had the irresistible urge to try once more. It's like God told me, maybe by His angel,
Turn around and walk a straight line out into that field. Stop right here. Put your coil on the ground. Now turn
your detector on and be amazed at the power of God!

Out of the 300 some acres of land, that eency teency ring was right where I stopped. I think God was
trying to get through to my agnostic friend. Imagine the scientific odds of that happening. Wow!
