A duck...but what?

9" down in a farmers field...has a small patch of what appears to be silver solder in the middle little indent in the back, where I would assume some type of post would have been soldered on.

What the heck is it or could it have been?

I'd say hat pin or tie pin.

found this on google...closest looking so far ....it is a vintage lapel pin...but he is going the wrong direction

If the back looks like it just had a single center stud, it might be an inlay for a gun stock. An artist by the name of Sid Bell made a number of varieties that your item resembles.

That may be a very good possibility and would explain why it was in the middle of a field.
