A different sort of pinpoint question

I'm a pretty experienced pinpointer with the Excalibur...will I most likely adapt to pinpointing with the Explorer fairly quickly?
From what I've read over the months, it sounds like alot of guys using the Explorer don't even use the pinpoint mode alot of the time?? I very rarely use the pinpoint mode with my Excal.
Thanks!
Andy

the pinpoint on the explorer is non motion, one of the things I dont like about it.. it seems to detune too fast so you have to pinpoint quickly before it starts detuning.. what I do is lift the coil away from the target about 6 inches hit pinpoint and move directly to where I heard it in disc.. this seems to work well on the shallower.. I also do it a few times to be narrow it down to the smalklest area. although I dont use it much since getting the X1 probe.. the probe will zero in on stuff down to 5 inches from the surface.. anything deeper and explorer pinpoint mode seems to do better.. I wish they had an option for a motion pinpoint like the sov/exc, was much easier to size and didnt detune

Hiya Jim,
When you say "I also do it a few times to be narrow it down to the smallest area", is that like detuning using the trigger switch on a whites? This new Explorer XS is nothing like what I'm used to. Maybe that's a plus for me. The only trouble I've had pinpointing is on deep targets next to another signal. I get kind of a throbbing effect, so I have to switch back and forth between modes to pinpoint it even remotely close enough.
Otherwise I'm gonna love this new machine!

Thomas, I go through the motions a few times, because it always seems the first time is off, I dont know why, and maybe its because the targets on edge, but I find if I pull the coil away lift off the ground then move it back a few times, that on the 3rd or fourth try it stays put and is right where it says it is.....

I find that the stealth 8 inch coil is real easy to pin point with. A lot better than the stock coil. what do you think Jim.
