A Different Kind of Hunt, 7 pre '65 Half's:crazy:

I was reading on another forum about Coin Roll Hunting. My uncle used to do it in the 60's for dimes. I read the best odds are in the boxes of half dollars. I bought a box at the bank that came straight from the mint. I sorted through 1000 coins. Open a roll, sort, re-roll, go to the next. It was so cool to lay them in the hand and see the silver edged ones just jump out at you. Here is what I found. 5- 1964 Kennedy's, 2 - 1963 Franklin's (3 Oz. of silver) and 5 1965-70 40% silver. Not a bad haul. I took it back minus the keepers and ordered another box. Treasure hunting on the couch. It doesn't get any better than that, unless, of course, I had found them with this :detecting:

Sounds like something to do in the winter when swinging isn't so great. Problem is the word gets out on this one and there will be no silver left any where..........

Thanks for blowing the whistle on this, old boy. Now there wont be any rolls to be had.

I know, I was messing with you guys. Shoot, I invented the practice. If you ever saw my spare tire, you'd know why they call it "roll" hunting!

Think of how long vending machines have been around. You think those guys don't check all their coins. When my wife ran a cafeteria she used to bring home old coins all the time from the cash register.

My niece used to work a convenience store and my wife a retail store. Both would turn up silver often and call me:
"You want these coins?"

You can guess my answer!
