A different kind of find

Sailorman

New member
So I guess this would fall in the relics category. Got this from a home site that was torn down in the late 40's and turned into a park. It's a piece of newspaper linotype. I remember taking a field trip as a kid to a newspaper that was published using this process. Brings back a few memories.

It says "The immigrants are few and the". Wonder what the rest was?

Cool find, my dad was a Linotype operator when I was a young child..
Still remember the smell of the hot smelting pot of lead that was attached to the machine..
The trick was setting the type up in the frame for the press..
It wasn't like white out would make any corrections for you..
