Saturday morning. Up at 4am and at the usual beach from 5am to 9am.
Using the Ace 150 with some new Sony headphones. The headphones were a real bargain because the local electronics store has some poker machines at the entrance, just put in a members card and there is a chance of winning from about $1 to $50. Can't lose any money. Can try that only once a day and four times a month though. Good way to get people to come back and shop I suppose. Anyway, won around $10 so that was a nice bonus!
Also wore some new gloves today so I looked a million dollars.
High tide when I got to the beach so just worked along the high water mark and the coins just kept on coming! Nice to see the clean ones too.
Had to laugh about one of the rings. Dug two very deep cans and there right on top of the big pile of sand I dug out was the ring! LOL
Wanted to stay longer but had work to do in the morning and the beach was quickly filling up with people anyway. Talked about the weather (among other things) with a couple of the beach shop owners. It is a little cooler today (33C) with a good chance of a tropical cyclone over this area early next week - probably up to typhoon strength by then. No good for the shops, but hey, I for one don't mind seeing a few rings near the surface.
Another reason to talk with them (on friendly terms) is that it is well known that many of those types of 'businesses' are controlled by the Japanese mafia (Yakuza) - just show them the bucket of trash (I did) and they are VERY happy to see someone 'cleaning' the beach. Show them the money and they may want a cut!!
Got a bit of a tough call Sunday morning, do I go to the usual beach and continue with the great run of coins and have a chance at more rings? Or, head to the closer 'new' beach and see what has been dropped during the beach festival today? Mmmmm......maybe best to check out the new beach this afternoon to see how crowded it is. Will post the results, which ever I decide......
3,063 yen in coins (around US$27)
Three silver rings.
Some crackers and a lighter to light them!
