A Couple Scoop Questions

What do you do ( if anything ) to prevent your hands from getting black when using an aluminum handled scoop ? Also, those using the scoops with the short handles welded to the main handle....how do you like them ? I noticed that some are welded to the side of the handle and some are on top, any preferences ?

I'm not sure about the secondary handle as I don't use one, but you can use textured bedliner spray to coat the handle. It gives you a much better grip, keeps your hands warmer in cold water and won't leave any black marks.

I use a RTG scoop and have never had my hands turn black. I use my scoop on land and water. As far as handle attact to the scoop they are ok but, I don't use them . You can buy bolt on handles at Home depot. HH Ron Lord

The RTG aluminum scoops I have turned my hands black before spraying. Scuff them up with coarse steel wool or about 100 grit sand paper and spray them with a textured bed liner. Gives better grip and the black hands issue goes away (like ZOFCHAK says).

that using electrical heat shrinkage tape works good. I tried to buy some but couldn't find any in the 1 1/2" size but I did find it on the internet, just do a search. HH

I used to scuff up the handle with sandpaper and then spray it with truck bed liner. It works well but you have to re-apply it from time to time. I also wrap mine in electrical tape. Self fusing silicone tape works well too.
