Hello Folks,
The property we live on was first settled in 1853. I've just started swinging again after
a layoff of a couple of decades. I picked up a Garrett Ace 250 and I'm starting to get
the hang of it. In addition to some rosies, a wheatie and a memorial, I picked up the
following Whatzits.
First one is a bit over 7 inches long and made of brass. It was down probably about
10 inches. It resembles a modern broadhead as much as anything but due to weight
and softness obviously isn't. It has 3 equally spaced semi-sharp edges that would be
called hollow ground if it were a knife blade. Any ideas?
Second Whatzit is a coinlike object made of a heavy but unidentified material.
Does not react to a strong magnet. It reads "George Washington 1789 1st President USA, 1797."
Slightly larger than a quarter. I found it under the grape arbor which is reputed to be over 100 years
old. The vine looks like a tree trunk. LOL! Obverse of item is identical to front.
Thanks! Warm regards, Jim
