A couple of tokens found today with the X70

Lisa and I managed to sneak in a few hours detecting at a really muddy lot today. It was rough going trying not to sink up to the knees but it was great to get out! These were found using the 6" HF with Sensitivity at 27. The Orphan Annie token is actually a "decoder pin". The SS stood for her "secret society" and coded messages were given to fans during the broadcasts. The token is as generic as it gets...five cents on both sides.

Good luck to everyone and thanks for looking!

Nice tokens. And don't complain about the mud. I'm just sitting around waiting for spring thaw!

Congrats on those very nice tokens! I really like the Orphan Annie one. Very unique for sure, Beale.

Nice one. Sometimes, (sometimes) I enjoy finding a token more than a coin.

The Orphan Annie thing is the rotating dial from the decoder. The other part could still be in the ground.

We certainly have had more than few "freeze yer but off" days this winter in my neck of the woods.

No hunting this way till the ground thaws in May this year. We had some wicked frost before the snow fell.

Nice finds. Great Annie token. Can picture kids sitting around the radio waiting for the secret codes.

Very cool finds! Being a fan of the movie A Christmas Story, I have always wondered what the odds would be of finding a Little Orphan Annie Decoder Pin and how could it would be!

Congrats! Cool finds!

Hi utmike
I like you're ROA Token pin.I found a ROA Decoder Badge back in oct last year. It's dated from 1938..I listed it in the Whatzit forum because I was'nt sure what it was at first. It's on the second page in the Whatzit forum listed as Decoder?I guess I should clean it up a little.I just Love this hobby:twodetecting:

Nice finds!
That decoder ring is in great shape. I hope I find one of those in the bottom of a plug one of these days.
Mike

Have a look.Makes some interesting reading http://www.radioarchives.org/annie/ The one I found is the 1938

I've been back to the lot a few times hoping to find the outer ring to the decoder. So far no luck with that but, everytime we have gone, my wife has nailed at least one good trade token. Thanks again for the link, I had no idea about these pins before I found one.
