A couple of silver, cross and a watermelon.

Just a short post - must get back to work. ;)
Ace 150 again at the beach this morning (Tuesday) - 5am to 9am - can't handle the heat and high humidity after about 9am. :hot:

1,714 yen in coins (around US$15.50)
Two silver rings.
One silver cross (after some electrolysis)
Game token.
Sinker, junk ring, hair clip.

Oh, and a pigeon eating watermelon for breakfast! :)

Hello, Ian. I love seeing the pictures of your finds not because of the coins but the cool objects you also find on the beach. I think it

I just ate some melon this morning, not the one from the pigeon that is :) , and that was 300 yen for about 1/6 of a melon. So, a whole melon goes from around 1,800 yen at a supermarket.

The way to beat the Japanese system of pricing is I'm off to Costco this morning to stock up on food etc. Big volume, good quality, very low pricing when compared to Japanese stores. And, and they'll probably have some free melon to sample too! :)

Prices are a bit out of date (some up, some down) on the linked page and the high priced gift type melons aren't bought daily of course! Bought only one since I have been in Japan and gave it as a gift. (prefer to buy real gold now!) ;)
Tokyo Prices and Square Melons

How does this all relate to metal detecting......mmmmmmm......Garrett's are green (and yellow), and a bit like tiny square watermelon's? :)
Or, don't buy a metal detector in Japan because they will cost two square watermelons or more! :)

Cool, 15.50.! There ain't many coin shooter's who can shoot 15 bucks in a day. Here in America that is. Unless it would be my brothers who shoot our beaches.

Us poor school and park boys who have to contend with other coin shooters shooting the same sites would find it real hard to put up those kind of numbers.

How long does that take you? Are you shooting the day, or just a few hours?

I think the folks in Canada make make that kind of money if they can find a nice un picked park or school ground. The Aussies might also, not sure.

Any way, Nice going !

Is that expensive? I mean, in perspective, give me some average salaries for a couple of proffessions/jobs......I'm really curious now.

35C during the day yesterday with VERY high humidity.
The coin denominations here are nice, with the highest being 500 yen (about US$4.40).
Reckon a more experienced beach coin shooter than me could cherry pick the equivalent of at least US$50 in coins for a full day at a good beach in Japan. Would be a nice way to spend a long spring or fall vacation..... ;) HH.

But I am doing some private research on education statistics at the moment and these links should help answer your question.
For your reference though, among other things, I teach Onglish, Anglish, mmmmm...English? :) and charge e.g. from half a square melon or more (work that out) for a 50 minute lesson. And for some group lessons, even two whole square melons! LOL

And just so we don't go too far off topic here. How about the link to the Garrett Japan website?
Garrett Japan
No Ace 150's in there?! mmmmmm....maybe that is why the beach is so good? ;)

And you have got to love the guy at the bottom of this page. Start them young I reckon! :)
Garrett Japan too

Hope that helps. HH.
