A couple Of New Coils For My Ex11

RLOH

Well-known member
I got a couple of new coils for my Explorer 11, one being the new Pro Coil and the other an Excelerator 4.5x7. Both of these coils are as good as they get. The Pro coil feels much lighter than the stock coil and the hotspot of the DD coil is razor sharp. In my opinion, the detection width is much narrower than the stock coil which makes it a great separator in trash. It works so well that if I had the money for only one coil, this coil would be it. The pinpointing is also much sharper. I rate this coil an solid 10! I have a Sunray x-8 for my Ex 11 and I always have swore by this coil. The Excelerator 4.5x7 is every bit it's equal, but it has one advantage. It appears to be be deeper when I set my Explorer 11 up identically. The advantage of this coil is the footprint of this coil is smaller and I can stick it into tighter spots. A good example of this is tree roots. The narrow design lets me wiggle inbetween the roots and between brush. The x-8 is one heck of a coil, but this coil can do a little more. In three times using this coil, I have found over 50 wheats and 5 mercury dimes. Most of the coins were 5 to 7 inches deep in trash! This coil is another 10! I run manual sensitivity and both these coils allow me to increase the sens from 22 range to 26-27 range with no increase in the falsing. Great coils that I highly recommend. R.L.

You hit the nail on the head:
- Pro coil feels much lighter than the stock coil
- hotspot of the DD coil is razor sharp
- great separator in trash
- pinpointing is also much sharper
I will not be going back to the stock coil. If anything I will buy a smaller coil for trashy sites.

Do you know if they make a coil cover for the 4x7? I had something close to that coil on a diffrent machine and really liked it.

If they don't make a cover you could always epoxy coat it. I did that to all three of my coils and have been using them for years that way. It works great.
