a couple of keepers from an old park

These are my 1st two keepers using the explorer with the 10x12 sef. The old park gave up 6 large cents so far. A lot of silver from there too, but the oldest silver is from 1919. I know there has to be a seated or barber there waiting to be found. I think Bryce needs to come to NY to help find the old silver.

Really nice looking 1819 LC there John.
She has a nice Liberty and crisp date. :clapping:

Go super slow like a turtle and you will be surprised how many nice deep silvers/coppers are there to be found. You might pass over these if your swing is to fast.
I would say for a two foot swing back to the left then right I would say "one one thousand- two one thousand-three one thousand-four one thousand" (for reference) at a slow pace and you will find them.

Congrats on those two nice keepers Doug.

If I remember correctly you have the SE and not an EX2 so you can move along a little quicker with your swing....especially since you are using the 10 x 12 SEF coil as it separates like a laser beam for a bigger coil.

However...even though you can move a little quicker with your swing....Try this...don't worry about sweep speed at all...instead get in one spot that has produced for you and just stay there...slowly scanning the ground...not even swinging the coil...just scanning the ground in slow motion.

You will not cover much ground this way...but you will be be better able to hear a coin sound coming through a null if you are using iron mask.

Also if you aren't already doing so...try running with both fast and deep off...as this will clean up the signal much better on the deep, iffy hits.

I don't mean to tell you what to do...and I'm sorry if I come accross that way. It's just something that works for me

You just might pop some older goodies. Looks like you are starting out with a bang:thumbup:.

Like I stated John swinging at that pace works wonders and without saying it is scanning the ground. Go much slower and your stopped.
I hunt the same speed with my SE-P as with my EX-II

Now, if one wishs to debate rather if a swing has a speed at which it is too slow and is no longer a swing is another story.

I have seen so many people start to get frustrated and start picking up their swing speed or sweep speed and pass over many targets.
I have gone right behind them and got a deep keeper.

FWIW: This is my opinion and something I am entitled too if some like it or not.

I'm sorry I overlooked your invite the first time Doug.

I would love to hunt NY sometime...but I bet it has some spots that you have to be very careful at?

There a few spots in St. Louis where you just flat out don't want to be at anywhere near dark:bouncy:...and Im assuming NY is similar?

Doug thats a nice large cent.
Im envious bud because I havent found one in a long time. Nice job.

thanks to everyone for the comments and especially for the advice.

Bryce, there is one park I can think of where I wouldn't want to be after dark but most places around here are very safe. I live in Ulster Co. which is about 70 mi north of NYC.

you are correct, I have the Explorer SE pro.

Nice work Doug. That large cent would be a thrill for me!
